Q&A: Mommies who have AWESOME post baby bodies…?

Question by “miss me“:

Questions to Mommies who have AWESOME post baby bodies… How to loose the post-baby extra weight?

  • what do you do to maintain your body?
  • what types of food do you avoid?
  • what workouts do you do?

I’m just curious, my son is 17 months, and I’m not where i want to be body wise (loosing the mommy pooch is so hard!!!). Just looking for what you do or did to be in shape again?

CEM – no, actually i am not talking about Hollywood mommies. I am talking about your every day mommies who have kids, and can still be in a bikini and look great, or the mommies that you see with their kids who don’t have mommy bellies pouring over their jeans (which like most of us, me unfortunately included, have).

  1. You know, if you can afford it, I would recommend Jenny Craig. :) I was on it after the birth of my first set of twins. The weight came right off. I was losing about 3 lbs a week. Also, the treadmill is great to workout on. You can buy a jogging stroller and go jogging with your son, too. Or take you dog on a walk or jog. Also, for the tummy area, crunches really helped me. Good luck. :)

Not saying I have an “awesome” body, but this helped me finally feel comfortable in a bikini again. :P

  2. Hmmm. Where are seeing these awesome bodies? Hollywood? They have awesome bodies because they have a personal trainer and they work out several times a day everyday. For normal everyday people, it’s usually genes. Then for others, working out hard everyday for awhile, which for most mothers is not possible to schedule in our busy lives.

I don’t have the best body at the moment as I am pregnant, but I keep up with my exercise and eating habits. But to answer your answer, I try and cook all healthy not necessarily organic, just tons of fresh veggies, whole grain/wheat carbs (breads, pastas, etc.). I cook with oliver oil not butter or other oil. Not fatty, creamy stuff- though once in a while as I would go crazy if I never had it. But if I am hungry I go for an apple instead of chips. Also the only way I would stay away from that stuff was to not buy it, which is hard, but I would be at the store have the bag of chips in my hand and would stop and think do I want that fat belly.

As for working out, I use to go to the gym, but it has gotten to be too much. So now I just take walks, I put my daughter in the stroller, I will have to stop this soon, as she is 3, but she enjoys it. We go for walks, sometimes I run. We do it everyday.

  4. my mum was a ballerina and snapped back in to shape right after my birth

there is no magical cure my mum is 50 now with a body as good as madonna and the secrete is going to the gym 4 times a week and going for a jog twice and eating reasonably , she never eats low calorie foods she just does everything in moderation

  5. I eat strictly a vegetarian diet and exercise with my family daily. I don’t eat any dairy or meat products and I only eat organic produce. I was a size 3 before I had my kids and I had my last child a year ago. I’m a size 5 now at 67 inches tall and 122 lbs.

    I don’t think I have a “awesome” body lol.
I do think I look pretty good for having 3 kids in 4 years (when this baby gets here) though.

I walk a lot, stretch a lot, stay active with the kids, and thats about it.
I only drink water. I only eat lean meat, no red meat at all. I hate sweets, so very rarely have a couple bites of icecream or a piece of candy..once a month at most. I don’t eat processed food anymore, and don’t eat fast food anymore (except for really rare occasions, like vacation or something). I eat primarily fruits and veggies, and pecans. I could live on salad and watermelon, I swear I could! lol.

Everyone says genetics, but 9/10 people in my family are obese. So I don’t think that has as much to do with it as choices do.

I got pregnant with this baby when my son was 4 months old to the day! So I was worried I’d blow up like a house this time, but haven’t so far! Anyways, I’ll put up what pics I have on flickr. If you want to see more pics with me not pregnant, then go to my profile here, and check out my myspace page, it’s public, and has a bunch(100’s) of pics after my first and second baby.

  7. Well I’m an everyday mom and I walk 3 -4 days a week and I do a short exercise routine each morning which includes sit ups and a lot of other tummy shaping excesses. I also stay pretty active with my kids, (bike riding, playing sports, etc…). I don’t eat a lot of junk food. When I feel like snacking I go for more salty things that don’t have a lot of calories like sunflower seeds.
