Teach Your Kids Spanish With Evelyn Irving’s Bilingual Books

A few weeks ago I was approached by author Evelyn Irving, who invited me to have a look at her bilingual kids books for children who are learning Spanish. Evelyn Irving is the author of the Cheerful Unicorn World series of unicorn coloring books, and she just published a Spanish Reader for Beginners (Las Aventuras de Valeria y Luciano).

I had a look at her bilingual unicorn book and I must say I found it great for kids starting from age 3 or 4, until well into school age. I can see potential for older kids, too, because the book is not just about coloring cute unicorns, but it has simple and easy to read words in both languages (English and Spanish) which are great for a beginner reader. This book seems to be available as a bilingual kids book German – English, too.

Evelyn Irving seems to have had success teaching Spanish and English to children with her Cheerful Unicorn titles, and now she has embarked into an even harder mission: to publish a Spanish Reader for Beginners which could entertain adults and children alike, with easy and fun short stories in Spanish which would keep their attention and talk about subjects which are interesting for a kid. This is how her SPANISH READER FOR BEGINNERS, LAS AVENTURAS DE VALERIA Y LUCIANO, was born.

This is one of the best Spanish readers we could find, especially for the youngest. I think most little girls will be able to identify with eleven-year-old Valeria, who has a tiny invisible friend, Luciano, who keeps doing silly things to make her laugh, and sometimes brings her trouble, too. All chapters include an English translation of the short stories, useful vocabulary, questions about the texts, etc.

If you want to have a look at the Spanish Reader- Beginner Short Stories – Las Aventuras de Valeria y Luciano, or the rest of titles by Evelyn D. Irving, they are all available on Amazon as ebook or paperback. I am sure your kids will enjoy them and you will be satisfied, too, as they will be learning Spanish while they play.
